Streamlining Operations, Empowering Institutions

The Shared Services Center (SSC) is the University System of Georgia’s hub for Human Resources and Payroll support, ensuring efficiency across all public institutions. By standardizing processes and managing compliance risks, we help institutions focus on what matters most – students. The Shared Services Initiative supports the Chancellor’s third priority for the USG, “Be More Efficient” by identifying ways to enhance efficiency and improve college accessibility. The SSC was established to centralize and standardize key administrative functions, and the USG continues to explore opportunities to expand shared and centralized administrative services.

We proudly serve all University System of Georgia (USG) employees—faculty, adjunct instructors, researchers, staff, student workers, and graduate assistants—ensuring they receive accurate and timely compensation. Our services also extend to USG retirees and former employees. In addition, we support our institutional partners, the Shared Services Center (SSC), and the University System Office (USO), delivering expert, efficient, and cost-effective shared services that advance the USG mission.

The Shared Services Center is led by Julie Harris, Associate Vice Chancellor, who provides strategic oversight and direction for the USG. Directors are Gabby Giles, Chris Rief, and Leigh Ross, who each manage key functional areas within the center. Additionally, Allie Avant serves as the operations paraprofessional, assisting with day-to-day coordination and administrative support across the department.
